What are Microgreens?

Microgreens are young vegetable greens that have just emerged from the seeds and are about 2.5 – 7.5 cm tall. They are usually harvested 7 – 10 days after germination.

They have an aromatic flavour and are available in a wide variety of colours and textures. Microgreens contain a high nutrient content and research even suggests that they may have more than their more mature counterparts.

Only the stems and leaves of microgreens are considered edible, similar to baby greens. They are, however, much smaller than baby greens and can be sold before being harvested.

This implies that the plants can be purchased whole and cut at home, allowing them to remain alive until consumed.

Microgreens are easy to grow because they may be grown in a range of environments, including the outdoors, greenhouses, and even your windowsill.
